Happy Friday! Today marks the start of my winter break! I couldn’t be more excited to get started. My big plans include purging my house, getting my apartment professionally cleaned (EEEEEEEEEEEE!), making lots of recipes and hunkering down at home.
I’m so excited!
The Internet was brimming with awesome this week. Let’s check it out:
Therapy dogs comfort children in Newtown.
My friend Amber posted about a tiny, beautiful way you can help bring joy to the children who attended Sandy Hook elementary: making paper snowflakes to decorate the abandoned school they’re temporarily holding classes in. I plan to send a few.
This post made me say YES: The Rebirth Of Slow Blogging.
Tips on shopping for vintage food props.
I’m obsessed with Tara Brach’s podcasts right now. So much wisdom about being nice to ourselves.
42 Greatest Arrested Development quotes. Some of the funniest moments from my favorite show of all time. Obviously, I just want to watch this show over again now. For the 30th time.
Zadie Smith on joy. A gem of an essay.
Kale coconut salad. YES. This is definitely a post-Christmas situation food. I’m also really enjoying Gina’s blog in general. She’s delightful!
My friend Tracy Shutterbean put together a list of her edible treats to make as gifts. I’m spending some time putting together a few treats this weekend and this is my go-to list. Mmmm.
Andrew and I are doing the Whole30 in January. WHEE! I’m bookmarking my friend Holly’s advice post. So many delicious ideas!
Stenciling the handwriting of a loved one on to a plate. So perfect if you’ve lost someone, or if you want a memorable family heirloom. What a special gift.
Shine bright. Loved this little inspiration break from Joy.
Let’s Stop Pretending Our Lives Are Perfect. YES. Let’s.
Messy, joyful, short-lived. A lovely end-of-the-year thought from Gluten Free Girl.
Like many other Internet friends, I’m feeling a wee bit quiet slash overwhelmed these days. That said, I’m going to immerse myself in the holidays, relish time with family and friends, spend as much time as possible on my yoga mat and relax.
I’ll be back in this space on January 1st! I’m sure I’ll be Instagramming and tweeting in between now and then, if you want to follow me over there. Have a wonderful holiday with those you love. Thanks for reading, friends. I’ll see you next year!

Thanks for the great food links Amy and good luck with Whole30! My husband and I went about 80% Paleo and gluten-free at the end of the summer. As a runner, I was worried about limiting grains BUT it has gone very well. I ran a PR marathon and he has lost almost 30 pounds. Check out my blog for the some ideas on how we are doing it! Good Luck
Hi there,
Just wanted to let you know that I look forward to these posts. I especially enjoyed last week’s 25 articles for women. Today, I particularly enjoyed Joy by Zadie Smith.
Have a great holiday!
I am at the end of purging my house. If you haven’t read The Joy of Less by Francine Jay I highly recommend it. I’ve “decluttered” before, but it never really sticks. Plus I mostly ended up boxing up clutter and putting it away. Um, that’s not really decluttering, Liz!
Anyway, the book was both inspirational and practical. I’m finishing up the last things from the last rooms in preparation for a big Christmas party tomorrow. This will be the first year that I don’t spend the last hours before the party in a panic, filling laundry baskets and stashing them in my bedroom.
Good luck!
Oh my gosh, those Arrested Development quotes made me realize I need to rewatch the first three seasons (for the 87th time) to prepare for the new episodes.
The Rebirth of Slow Blogging post made me nod vigorously too.
Happy New Year! Good luck with Whole30 – can’t wait to hear about it!
