Hi, I’m Amy, and this is my blog Coffee & Sunshine. I’m in my late 20′s, and I live in the beautiful, tree-filled downtown area of Sacramento, CA. I share an adorable apartment with my poker-playing, economics-studying boyfriend, Andrew, and my cat, Harry (Harrsion Roonagles, if we’re being proper). For whatever reason, Sacramento is the punchline to every California joke ever, but I love it here. There are seasons, my family is close by and I can walk to coffee, yoga, and Thai food in less than 10 minutes. It’s awesome.

I teach high school English. The first rule of being a teacher on the Internet is don’t talk about being a teacher on the Internet. I also do a bit of writing and social media stuff on the side. Currently, I’m writing copy, writing articles and doing all sorts of social media-ing. I’d like to work with you, actually, if you’re into that sort of thing. Check out my portfolio here.

When I’m not in the classroom teaching, I’m in the classroom learning. I’m a student at California State University, Sacramento currently working towards a Master of Arts in Literacy and Language, with a Reading Credential. I am one of those people that discuss how they want to be a “life-long learner” otherwise known as a full-blown nerd.

I’ve been blogging since the MySpace days and after I found that I really loved writing online, a friend suggested I get a “real blog.” I did. I moved through several sites over the years, and documented every last minute of my overly dramatic early-to-mid 20′s. Thankfully, I had the good sense to delete that business. My very first “real” blog that got comments was called Coffee & Sunshine, and while I have changed in countless ways since I was 22, coffee and sunshine are still my two favorite things in the whole world, so I made it the title of this blog.

These days, I like making delicious food and writing about it, talking about my yoga practice, sharing bits and pieces from my life and writing about my journey towards a simple, healthy, joyful life that’s pretty, fun and happy. That’s it. I’m also currently doing yoga every single day for an entire year, a journey you can follow along with here.

My favorite things in life include Zuda Yoga, people who share my dark sense of humor, all manner of carbs, crossing cool things off my Life List, watching San Francisco Giants baseball, writing in a paper journal, drinking coffee, daydreaming about returning to Paris, kayaking, NPR, Don Draper, watching Pretty Little Liars while being scared half to death and reading on my Kindle.

I hope we’ll be friends!
